Strategic Plan
The New York State Department of Labor’s (NYSDOL) Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and leadership are committed to successfully carrying out our mission by ensuring that our workforce reflects the diverse backgrounds of those we serve. NYSDOL supports our workforce by fostering an inclusive work environment where employees can use their knowledge and expertise to generate innovative ideas. Retaining excellent talent and experienced staff is critical to sustaining a strong workforce. We continue to invest in developing diverse and talented professionals to promote a dynamically diverse and inclusive work environment.

The DEI Strategic Plan communicates the policies, goals, and implementation strategies to develop pathways of entry and mobility for protected-class individuals to improve their representation in the State workforce.

NYSDOL will utilize a diversity and inclusion model that builds upon Executive Order No. 6 and Executive Order No. 187, “Ensuring Diversity and Inclusion and Combating Harassment and Discrimination in the Workplace,” by providing the tools needed to build a broadly representative workforce of the communities served.  By formally integrating diversity and inclusion values and activities into existing workforce management processes, the DEI Strategic Plan will enable measurable results at agency and enterprise levels.

The goals and priorities outlined in this plan will serve as a roadmap as DOL continues to foster a diverse and high-performing workforce—representative of the community served by DOL—in which employees feel valued and have a sense of belonging.
